In a groundbreaking effort to improve internet safety and combat domain name abuse, Sav and CleanDNS recently disabled over 60,000 domains. These domains were found to be repeatedly engaging in phishing, spam, malware, and other forms of DNS abuse and online harms.
Founded on the principle of mitigating well-evidenced abuse and online harms, CleanDNS works with registries, registrars, and infrastructure providers in the domain name industry. Since 2021, CleanDNS has partnered with Sav to manage abuse, with CleanDNS analysts operating behind the scenes to identify, escalate, and mitigate abuse.
“We set out to become a leader in the domain name space with unmatched tools, service and prices. Now, we are intensifying our efforts to lead the industry in domain safety as well.” stated Anthos Chrysanthou, CEO of Sav.
Recently, Sav and CleanDNS jointly implemented new tools to efficiently address problematic accounts, enabling a streamlined takedown of abusive domains. This effort is part of a proactive strategy to improve internet safety by swiftly disabling domains intending to cause harm. Once confirmed, Sav and CleanDNS took action on an unprecedented scale.
Jeffrey Bedser, CEO of CleanDNS, remarked, “I cannot recall a time when a registrar worked as hard to uphold the security and stability of the Internet in my 15 years with the ICANN community. This proactive approach is setting a new standard in the industry and demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and secure internet environment.”
Chrysanthou further stated, “Sav has been a longtime partner of CleanDNS and is proud to work together in the effort to mitigate abuse. Both CleanDNS and Sav are dedicated to continuing our fight against abuse and maintaining our longstanding partnership.”
Utilizing industry-changing methods, policies, and techniques, Sav and CleanDNS are committed to tackling DNS abuse on a large scale with zero tolerance for bad actors and abuse.
